Blues Awards 2013/True Delta

Hello My Musical Friends'!
I had a great time (for the 2nd time) being a Trophy Girl at the Blues Awards 2013 in Memphis TN. Not only did I hear great blues music, but I met Dorothy Moore, who sang Misty Blue, and Mud Morganfield. Mud is the Son of the 7th Son (title of his album too)- the late great Muddy Waters. Dorothy sang her major hit, Misty Blue and Mud did his dad's song, I'm A Man. I got a couple of pix with them, but because the iPhone camera sucks, it looks a little blurry. :(
I also saw the awesome harp player Bob Corritore, out of Arizona. We had met before the first time I was a Trophy Girl.

My album is going great and we'll be in the studio for the last little itty-bitty thing, the mastering, and that will be on May 20th. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

Also, the film, True Delta, that my dad, Howl-N-Madd, and many more talented musicians in Mississippi are in, will be shown at the Tupelo Film Fest, May 15th-19th and Howl-N-Madd and I will also speak at the event and answer questions. Make sure you go to Tupelo and see True Delta!

I'm going to be a Trophy Girl again for the 34th Blues Music Awards at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN. I'm excited about this. Last year I met Buddy Guy, Steve Miller, and many more talented artists. I also saw some fantastic performances and I can't wait to experience it again, from the front (or backstage) lines. Hello, Hello, Hello My Musical Friends!

 I've been away for a while, but I'm back with a musical force. I'll be posting a lot more now because we are getting very close to the departure date for our promo tour. Everyone is excited and I just can't wait!
I'm pretty close to finishing my album. I know I keep saying that, but it's true. ;D
We have about 2 more seesions to go. We're practically finished with the mixing.  Just a few more things then we'll master the album.

I'm glad that I've taken the pictures for the cover because we can start on the packaging process after we finish the album.
I'm so glad it's getting hot, at least in Mississippi. I'm ready for all of the festivals. My dad and I played 4/13/13 at the Juke Joint Fest and it was really cool because my brother was there performing with Scott Albert Johnson. I was able to hear some of their set. We had a great time playing music and seeing good friends.
Tonight Howl-N-Madd and I will be jammin' at The Alluvian in Greenwood, MS so come on and check us out. It's a lovely place and you'll have a blast with us!

Bill Perry, Jr.

As you know, Bill Perry, Jr. is the busiest musician in Mississippi. And he's at it again! On Wednesday, Bill was in the studio with neo-soul singer Tawana Shaunte in Jackson. Her album is going fantastic and Bill is helping with the melody, arrangement, and background on some of her songs. Billy is very talented and in-demand. Bill and Tawana will be jammin their butts off tonight at Yellow Scarf, so make sure you you check them out!

Friday and Saturday, Bill will be playing with Scott Albert Johnson at Yellow Scarf. I saw them at the Juke Joint Fest and they sounded amazing! Billy was playing the most beautiful chords you can hear and Scott has a beautiful voice. And Scott's amazing control of the harp will blow you away.

This will be a busy week for Billy, but he (we) like it like that!

Daddy Rich

Make sure if you're in Clarksdale, you get your butt to Ground Zero tonight so you can catch my good friend Daddy Rich jammin' the blues. The Daddy Rich Blues Band will be joined by Jesse Lipe, David Dunavent, and Josh McDowell so make sure you dance all night long. It will be hard not to!
You can also go to the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale and get guitar, harp, drums, and bass lessons from Daddy Rich. He's one of the nicest teachers you can have and he sure will teach you a lot. Check him out.

Me and my dad, Howl-N-Madd, was in the studio for about 7 hours yesterday mixing my songs for my new album. We had a lot of fun and it's sounding...swwweeeeeeeeet!!!

Hello My Musical Friends!
The other day when I updated my phone on iTunes, I almost flipped when I saw how many times I've played my songs. With just 4 songs, I have a play count of 312.  I am so not kidding. I added them up. Lol! And it's like, of course, because I would listen to them back to back to back. They are my favorite songs right now and I know you'll like them, too. The full count is over 600. But then again, what about when I listen to it on CD? Things that make you go, Huh? Can anyone say...Obsessive? Lol!
I'm listening to my album right now and it's the 3rd time this morning. And it won't be the last today.
We're playing at the legendary Po' Monkey's in Merigold tonight and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'll also be in the studio again Wed., March 20th. The last session was fantastic! It lasted 7 1/2 hours and I was full of energy when we ended. I love being in the studio, but I can't wait to finish so I can release it to all of you.

Hello My Musical Friends!
I wonder why whenever we have a studio date, I feel like its Xmas morning? I got a date with Studio 61 in Leland and I Can't Wait! We're going to record the last song today and I'm going to work on my vocals and pretty much, my part is done. Dad is taking over from there and he (we) will start mixing the songs. 
I've been getting myself in shape with yoga, jogging, and eating right (I'm a veggie;) for our promo trip, Chasing My Dreams, this summer. We have  many plans and even plan on breaking a Guinness Book World record, but I'll let you know more about that later.

Shy Perry

Man, oh, Man! I'm baaaaaaaaack. I had to take a lil' hiatus from the internet.  I get like that sometimes. I'll fill you in on what I've been doing and going to do. We had a few gigs and the most recent was at The Alluvian in Greenwood, MS.  We had to drive through this really bad storm, but we got there and put on a show.
Howl-N-Madd and I are getting an early start tomorrow morning because we have a long day.  We're leaving around 7am and we're going to Indianola, MS to play at BB King's Museum for students on a field trip.  These gigs are always cool because my dad is really good with kids (me too:) and he explains the history of the blues to them as well as playing his (our) original music for them. It's fun when the kids participate and get on the mic to sing with us.
After that, me and dad will go to Leland, MS to do some happy over-dubbing on 4 songs on my album. We should be there for a few hours. 
Later tomorrow night, Dad and I will drive to Clarksdale to play at Ground Zero Blues Club. Going to Ground Zero is like going home and it will be nice to see the staff. 
Like I said, Loooong day.  We'l get home around 1am Friday morning and knowing me, I won't get to sleep until daylight.

Bill Perry, Jr.

Bill Perry, Jr. has been playing his keyboard non-stop for the past several months. He's always on a musical roll.  He'll be featured on My New Album, Tawana Shaunte's Album, he'll be making a new album by this summer and the countless gigs his plays. He recently played in Starkville at Zorba's with F2B-Fade To Black and they rocked the house. Bill played at the Powerhouse lunch with Cadillac Funk, February 23rd,  for the Oxford University School Auction and they had the crowd with 1, 2, 3, 4 (music inside joke. hope you musicians get it). With the celebration of his anniversary with his girlfriend, JoLynn, Billy will be right back to work at Rooster's Friday Night.

Tawana Shaunte

Tawana Shaunte' has a beautiful voice and beautiful songs to go along with it. Tawana is straight out of Jackson, MS and she has the talent to follow in the steps of the great Cassandra Wilson and Ms. Rhonda Richmond.  Tawana is working on her New Album now and she has no other than The Talented Mr. Bill Perry helping her to arrange the music and even come up with some background voc. Tawanna Shaunte’, “artist with a purpose”, is a phenomenal soul singer, songwriter, and music arranger. "You truly have an anointed voice" (Comment from fan) definitely sums up what this artist has to offer. Among the many words that could be used to describe this artist’s music, three words stand out: healing, motivational, and inspiring. 
Tawanna’s album, “Shades of Color” was release in the fall of 2012. “Shades of Color” showcases creativity that can only come from her soul. Tawanna Shaunte' had a passion for singing at the early age of 9, and has blossomed into a musical rose. She has captivated audiences all over the US with performances in places such as New York, New Orleans, Atlanta, etc. In 2007-2010, Tawanna performed with the international recording soul group “Eclectik Soul” that successfully sold CDs in the United States, London, Japan, and the Netherlands, and also had a music video, “Reflections”, that was aired on BET’s partner TV station “Centric” (2010). She is currently working on the video for her new single, “Shades of Color”.

Shy Perry

This past Sunday was pretty wild! Kit and I had to drive through a major storm to get to a photoshoot for my album cover.  I wasn't gonna miss this because one of the photogs, Valerie Crancer, had a date with Mexico the next day. I had to get it done or wait. So hence, driving through a storm to take some pics. It usually takes about 2 1/2 hours from my house to their studio, but that day was longer.
When we got there, Valerie and Rick Raulston were so nice and full of energy.  They really made the shoot fun and they came up with fantastic ideas that enhanced my ideas.
Overall, not only am I happy with the shoot, I saw a couple of pics and WoW...vewwy, vewwy nice!
The cover for my album is going to be beautiful!  Exciting Times!
We'll be back in the studio for some more happy over-dubbing on 5 more songs.
And I Can't Wait!

Alina Smith

If you haven't heard, let me say it loud.  My girl, Alina Smith, is back with a New Song for Valentine's Day. Alina's always ont the go, staying busy making music, videos and traveling. And the video for her song Sunny Side Up is a collage of the images from Times Square. In 2012 at the end of Oct., Alina was looking cool in the cold and she spent 3 hours convincing perfect strangers to "show their love" for the camera! Alina said, "when it came to "showing the love", they were all great. I guess, love does that. It shines through, even if you are feeling like an idiot, standing in the middle of the street, while a strange photographer is clicking away and some blonde is yelling "That's it!!" "Loving it" "You're sexy beasts!" Happy Valentine's, guys!"

Right now you can see her music video, Sunny Side Up. Alina said, "This video may be cuter then puppies and may cause teary eyes and involuntary exclamations, such as "awwww", "omg" and " this is so sweeeeet" and I agree!
