If I've said it once, I'll say it again, Bill Perry, Jr. is one of the hardest working musicians in Mississippi. He's traveled across the south and to the east coast all in the past 2 weeks. He's worked with Scott Albert Johnson at Yellow Scarf and right after that, Cassandra Wilson flew him, Dr. Prana and several other talented cats to NYC to perform at BB King's club right off the one and only Times Square. Right before they left, they practiced constantly to make sure they were on top of their music. They practiced at least 3 times before showime. And it was worth it!
They Blew The Crowd Away!
The lead singer Tawana Brown, tore the mic up, and Billy brought the place to their knees.
Mississippi had NYC rockin again!
As soon as the plane landed, Billy hit the ground running. He played at Hal and Mal's in Jackson, MS, The Snackbar in Oxford, and Soulshine. He played at just about every place that has the best live music.
Bill recently audtitioned for a play in Memphis, TN to play the role of the devil in the Memphis play production called "Kidd Diamond & The Devil", written and directed by Daniel Martine (check out their Facebook page for details). If Bill gets the part, he'll have to hang up his musician's hat to be a stage actor for a month (maybe 5 weeks).
There will be a movie made from this play in 2015. The director said Billy's reading went very well and he loved his "presence" and voice.
Good Luck, Billy!
Bill has coined a new phrase to describe this, JazzyThespian!
Nice...
