We left Mississippi early Thursday morning at 1am and drove all the way to NYC. It was a nice and pleasant drive/ride and we all consider ourselves roadhogs (i.e.-people who love to travel by car) so this drive wasn't so bad. By the time Friday rolled around, despite the little problems that we'd experienced, which I think is normal, we were ready to boogie by the time 8:30pm arrived.
BTW-We had soundcheck at 4pm and 5pm for the Cabaret and Lincoln Center, respectively. Like I said, by the time 8:30pm rolled around, we were dancing in our shoes. We arrived at The Lincoln Center by 8:45pm and started at 9:15pm. The house was packed! We didn't see the awe-inspiring film, True Delta, because they wanted to introduce us. But it's ok because we've seen it A LOT!
When we landed on stage, with the first note, we had people dancing and swaying in their seats. We performed our original songs and the last song we played was Howl-N-Madd's original song, Delta Women, from The Clarksdale Sessions. My dad called my mom, his Delta Woman, on stage and She started dancing! Howl-N-Madd then called my fiance Kit Kohner, my niece Jewunia Massey, and my brother's girlfriend, JoLynn Wells on stage with us because... We Are Family, like the song says! We were All dancing and it was then this picture was taken as we took a bow. The Lincoln Center audience gave us A Standing Ovation and I felt so very happy. It was an amazing feeling and I'll never forget it! We had a wonderful time thanks to some very, very wonderful people.
