It’s 29 cuts spanning an hour and 29 minutes, the cuts are phat and the mixing is seamless, and there’s even a couple shout-outs to the label by golden era gods Sadat X and El Da Sensei. The southern roots and homegrown musical abilities are the main ingredients that shaped DJ Hush into the mastermind of the turntables & MPC. Influenced by the greats in Hip-Hop, DJ Premier, DJ Babu, DJ Qbert, Jay Dilla, Pete Rock, Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys, to say the least, the Mississippi native was first introduced into Hip-Hop in 1998 in his freshman year in college. Born Kevin Smith, DJ Hush was surrounded by music as a young kid. “My father was a classical musician and singer who surrounded me with music before I could even talk, said Hush.” It’s rare to know your dream as a child, nothing stood in DJ Hush’s way.
